A Ferry Day Needs A Screenshot Before Leaving

A ferry schedule is not useful when it is trapped in a browser tab and the parking lot has no signal.

Before leaving, I now save a screenshot of the Washington State Ferries sailing I am aiming for. The screenshot gets dropped into Telegram Saved Messages with the rest of the day’s information. It includes the route, departure time, and the date, so I do not have to remember which tab I was looking at.

The small checklist is:

  • check the sailing time
  • screenshot the schedule
  • save it with the route in the caption
  • check again before driving to the terminal

The last check matters. A screenshot is a useful backup, not a promise that the sailing still exists. It catches schedule changes before they become a slow drive followed by a long wait beside the toll booths.

This also works for the return trip. I save that sailing separately instead of assuming the first screenshot will be enough. A day trip has a way of becoming a different day trip once the return plan disappears.
