Keep The Washington Discover Pass In The Glove Box

Seattle hiking plans can change between breakfast and the freeway. If the Washington Discover Pass is sitting at home with the hiking gear, a spontaneous Tiger Mountain stop becomes a parking problem.

My glove-box setup is short:

  • current Discover Pass
  • both license plate fields filled in
  • expiration reminder on the calendar
  • pass returned to the glove box after every hike

The pass stays with the car, not the backpack. That also means I can switch from an ambitious trail to an easier state-lands stop without checking whether the parking permit made the trip.

I only hang it after parking. A pass swinging from the mirror while driving is an unnecessary blind spot.
