Merlin Bird ID Makes Slow Walks Better

A walk with a toddler is not a shorter hike. We may spend ten minutes on one boardwalk section because there is a duck, a leaf, and a very important puddle.

Merlin Bird ID gives that pace a purpose. At Juanita Bay Park, I can turn on Sound ID, leave the phone in my pocket, and check the likely birds when we stop. I do not need binoculars or a life list. Learning one bird per walk is enough.

That is a good fit for this season. The toddler gets time to inspect the world, and I come home knowing the difference between two sounds that used to register as “some bird.”
