Warranty Photos Belong With The Manual

A receipt is not enough for house stuff. The part that matters later is usually on a sticker under the device, written in gray-on-gray text, behind a panel I do not want to open twice.

My better version is one note per thing:

• product name
• purchase place and price
• model number
• serial number
• photo of the label
• receipt or order screenshot
• manual PDF if it exists

Obsidian is already where the boring facts go, like the HVAC filter size and trip notes. Warranty details belong there too. Not because I love filing paperwork, but because future me will not remember which email account bought the thing or why the support form wants a serial number before it will even show the next screen.

The photo is the key. Type the numbers if I want, but take the picture first.
